Who is WSSRA?

Foundation members meet 4 times a year.

Fundraising events include the Bowl-a-thon, Derby Gala, Fallin’ for Our Stars, Bears Party and a Holiday Solicitation. These are events not to be missed!

Members select a Committee to dedicate their time to. The Foundation works hand-in-hand with the Association staff, which allows for the opportunity to have input on program offerings as well.

You can help WSSRF achieve its fundraising goals by:

  1. Donations are accepted at any time
Checks should be made out to WSSRF and mailed to WSSRA, 2915 Maple, Franklin Park, IL 60131
  2. Donations are also accepted online at www.wssra.net
  3. Make a contribution and ask your employer if they will match your contribution
  4. Make a contribution in honor of someone special, for a birthday or other milestone event
  5. Consider a bequest in your will
  6. Honoring the memory of a loved one
    Flo & Murray
A donation to WSSRF in memory of a loved one is a meaningful way to contribute to WSSRA. Funds from memorials are deposited in WSSRA's Flo & Joe Murray Endowment Fund* and become a perpetual tribute to the deceased. If you would like memorial donations for a family member to be directed to WSSRA, please contact Marianne at 847.455.2100 for memorial cards to be used at the wake or memorial service.

    * The Flo & Joe Murray Fund for Special Recreation, named in honor of former WSSRA Executive Director Sandra Gbur’s parents, was created by the WSSRF to support the WSSRA mission. Through a partnership with the Oak Park River Forest Flo & Joe Murray Community Foundation an endowment fund has been created. This interest earning fund will annually pay that interest to WSSRF for many years to come.

  7. In-Kind donations are also welcomed
We always need items to be used as auction items or raffle prizes at our many fundraising events. Contact Marianne to arrange drop-off or pick-up of items.
If you are interested in becoming a Foundation member, please contact Marianne Birko at WSSRA by calling 847.455.2100 or e-mail marianneb@wssra.net.
